Bausch & Lomb 380mm F4.8 Petzval
€1400.00 EUR
History:
The lens is engraved with: '4/4 PPortrait, Ralph J. Golsen, Chicago, Made by Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. 4621'. Bausch & Lomb was one of the largest
optical companies back then, and still today.
The
focal lenght is about 380mm (or 15") and the open aperture is around
F4.8. It covers 8x10 absolutely and stretched out it will cover up to 11x14! with a destinctive petzval character in the
outer region (not tested yet).
This is a
really still quite light and compact design for a 15" petzval. You might
almost call it a field lens (comparing to other 15" petzvals).
Condition:
This brass beauty comes in a great condition. The brass looks nice and
shows only minimal wear, the main barell is coated with Nickel. The rack
& pinion mechanism is complete and works very smoothly. The glass
is in good condition, there are two very small edge chips in the front element, it will have no
effect on the image. There is no haze, fungus or anything
that would affect the image quality.
It comes with a flange and is ready to shoot!
