History: Aldis Brothers was established in 1902 when Hugh Lancelot Aldis left Dallmeyer to form his own lens manufacturing company.

The Aldis Anastigmat was offered shortly after that. It features the same Anastigmat layout as offered by Taylor Hobson & Cooke (yes, the makers of the famous Cooke Portrait Knuckler). It shows quite a nice optical quality and depth of dield, making it a very usefull portrait lens since it is a compact and rather lightweight companion for field work.

With its 290mm focal lenght it will work well for 5x7 up to 8x10 formats.

The condition of the lens is really good. The black laquere shows some wear here and there, but the most important thing: the glass is in a very good condition! showing only very minimal cleaning marks, no haze and no fungus here. The iris is complete and working.


The lens comes with its original flange and the leather lenscap!
