Carl Zeiss Planar 100mm F2.8

History: The Carl Zeiss Planar is one of the most elusive and rarest pieces of glass on the market for years now.  Scoring high prices in any auction it was a rare lens by any means back in the early 1900s as it is now.

The lens which offers a quite exclusive Planar layour, shows a wide open aperture of F2.8. The stunning speed and the rarity added quite alot to the mythical character of this lens.

Condition: The lens comes in a nice condition. The black laquere shows only minimal wear, if any at all, and the aperture moves smoothly. The glass looks good, very clear, with some wear to the coating in the rear.

The lens comes in a working shutter. i didnt test the times fully, but they sound quite right to me.

With its 100mm  (or 4") it will barely cover 4x5 on portrait distance. It shows a slight light falloff in the corners, which will result in a nice vintage vignietting in portraits. The F2.8 open aperture will offer you a very nice and distinctife DOF to work with.

A truly amazing and rare lens.
