Carl Zeiss Tessar 250mm F4.5 (early version)

History: This is a good example of the optical masterwork made by the famous Carl Zeiss Company in Germany. The Tessar was one of the most succesfull lens designs in the early 1900ies. It was very much loved by the photographers around the world in its time. The best part about this specimen is that its an early brass version, so it does feature the overall corrected field of view, but also a bit nicer DOF compared to the more modern ones. Those early Tessars were made only in a small number and not eary to find nowadays.
Condition:
The housing is in a nice condition, there is minor wear to
the housing and the black laquere is mostly in a good condition The glass is in a quite good condition too, there are minor clening marks in the front, but there is no haze, no fungus and no chips present. The aperture runs smooth.
The lens comes complete with a flange and the original leather lenscap!
The lens has a focal lenght of 250mm at a speed of F4.5. It will cover 5x7 and even up to 8x10 formats.

This item comes from my private collection and is around 100 years old
(antique). I try my best to describe all the faults and major damage
which are relevant for the function of this item. But the actuall item
can show signs of wear and also some cosmetic blemishes/damage which is
