This is a very massive and impressive lens made by the famous Carl Zeiss in Jena. There are quite many Tessars out there, but this one is really a unique piece for many reasons. First off, its a quite early version, still featuring the brass on the outside (most of the later ones were painted black). And then its the first and only Tessar with a Focal lenght of 590mm (23.2")! I never saw or heard anything about a similar Tessar before. Its really impressive.

The image circle of this beast is gigantic and about 75cm in diameter. It will work as a long portrait lens for 11x14 or even 20x24 formats.

The best part here, the lens comes in collectors condition: The brass is authentic and shows some wear here and there, but also a nice patina. The giant glass elements come in a very good and clear condition, showing only the usuall cleaning marks, and air bubbles. Otherwise the glass is clear and shows no haze and no fungus. The aperture is complete and moving smoothly.


The lens comes with a fitting flange.
