Perken Son & Rayment Rapid Rectilinear 550mm F8
History: The company Perken, Son & Rayment has a long history in manufacturing and reselling photographic equipment. The brand was established in 1854 and did was active up untill 1899. This Rapid Rectilinear (or Aplanat) is one good example which was probably made for the 12x15 Perken, Son & Rayment mahagoni field camera, also beeing offered in that time period.
Condition: The brass is in great shape, there is minima wear to the golden laquere at all. The lens features a waterhouse slot (no stops included). The glass is a overall good condition also, beeing clear and without seperation or damage.
The lens was advertised to cover 30x40 format, but with its focal lenght of about 550mm and an image circle of about 700mm it will cover formats up to 40cm x 50cm (or 14"x17"). The lens is overall corrected (aplanat design) and shows a remarable sharpness all throughout the image field.
The lens comes with a fitting flange and a plastic lenscap.
