History: The company Perken, Son & Rayment has a long history in manufacturing and reselling photographic equipment. The brand was established in 1854 and did was active up untill 1899. This Rapid Rectilinear (or Aplanat) is one good example which was probably made for the 12x15 Perken, Son & Rayment mahagoni field camera, also beeing offered in that time period.
Condition:
The brass is in great shape, there is minima wear to the golden laquere at all. The lens
features a waterhouse slot (no stops included). The glass is a overall good
condition also, beeing clear and without seperation or damage.
The lens was advertised to cover 30x40 format, but with its focal lenght of
about 550mm and an image circle of about 700mm it will cover formats up
to 40cm x 50cm (or 14"x17"). The lens is overall corrected (aplanat
design) and shows a remarable sharpness all throughout the image field.
The lens comes with a fitting flange and a plastic lenscap.

which are relevant for the function of this item. But the actuall item
