Dallmeyer 1B Portrait Petzval 150mm F3
€950.00 EUR
History: The Dallmeyer lens making company is one of the most famous and most
renowed from the first era of photography. The most saught after series
of lenses Dallmeyer produces was for sure the famous 'B' series. With
its absolute stunning open aperture of F3 and genuine image quality it
is a no brainer why the B series lenses are so rarely seen on the free
market.
The Serial number is 5.346 and it can be cound in the Dallmeyer archives beeing sold on April 28 in the year 1863!
Condition:
This brass beauty comes in a really good collectors condition. The brass shows some
patina, but also a nice golden laquere. The glass here is mostly
in good condition, there are minimal cleaning marks, which wont affect the image quality at
all, all in all a nice condition for a lens that is over 150 years old. The lens comes with a waterhouse slot (no
stops included). The rack & pinion is complete and is still moving nicely. Since its a very early version it doesnt offer the later added soft focus movement in the rear.
The
lens has a focal lenght of 150mm (6") at a speed of F3. It will cover
4x5 format and shows a fantastic petzval bokeh in the out of focus area.
As all Dallmeyer petzval lenses this one is very very sharp in the
center, considering the nice falloff its the perfect tool for portraits
in those formats.
The lens comes with a fitting flange.
