Dallmeyer 2B Portrait Lens 220mm F3

€1100.00 Sold Out

History: The Dallmeyer lens making company is one of the most famous and most renowed from the first era of photography. The most saught after series of lenses Dallmeyer produces was for sure the famous 'B' series. With its absolute stunning open aperture of F3 and genuine image quality it is a no brainer why the B series lenses are so rarely seen on the free market.

This particular lens is quite an early speciman, it was made before 1865 so it was not yet engraved with the B series, but looking up the Serial number (15.692)shows that it was sold as a 2B in the year 1860.

Condition: This brass beauty comes in a great condition. The brass looks nice and shows only minimal wear. The glass is in a good condition, besides the usuall cleaning marks there is no real damage or wear here. The lens comes with a waterhouse slot (no stops included).  The rack & pinion mechanism is not working well (rather jumpy), but is complete otherwise.

The 2B offers a focal lengh of 220mm and a starting aperture of F3. It will work best for 4x5 and 5x7 portraiture work. Actually its a dream lens for those formats.

It comes with the original flange, which is rather connected to the lens (probably stuck).
