History: The Dallmeyer D series are quite famous and sought after group portrait and landscape lenses. The No.4 of this series is well known for its huge image circle and absolute tack sharp center image and well defined aberrations towards the edges (the typical petzval bokeh).

The lens features a focal lenght of 430mm (or 17") and a F6 starting aperture. Google Dallmeyer 4D or 5D for sample images/plates done with this beauty. There are some out there.


Condition: The condition of this specimen is outstanding. The brass shows only light wear and a fine patina. Even more important the glass is super clear here, showing only really the feintest seperation on the outer ridge (not really even visible on the first look), besides that there is no haze, fungus or any damage.

The lens features a waterhouse slot (no stops included) and a working soft focus adjustment in the rear.

With its 430mm focal lenght it will well cover 8x10 ar even 11x14 wide open, and up to 12x16 slightly stopped down.
