Darlot Petzval 250mm F4.5
This nice petzval lens comes without an engraving on the outer barell, this is quite common for french makers from that era. Comparing the nickel coated inner part and the elment casings, its quite easy to spot that the lens came from the most known workshop of Darlot, Paris. This quite early lens is probably around 1860ies, since it
lacks a waterhouse slot and also the screws on the rack & pinion
mechanism are really large for the size of the barrel (which was a sign for early lenses).
The focal lenght is about 250mm (or 9 3/4") and the open aperture is around F4.5. It covers 5x7 and fullplate with a destinctive petzval character in the outer region (especially in the larger format).
Condition: This brass beauty comes in a good condition. The brass looks mostly nice and shows only minor wear, the main barell is coated with Nickel. The rack & pinion mechanism is complete and still working fine. The glass is in good condition, there minor cleaning marks, besides that there is no haze, fungus or seperation visible.
It comes with a flange and is ready to shoot!
