Derogy Portrait Petzval 180mm F3.3
This very old Petzval design lens comes from one of the most
exclusive french lens making workshop: Derogy Paris. This fantastic piece
of history comes in a nice authentic condition. It shows only minor wear and quite some patina, the brass has a warm golden
laquere and was not polished. The rack & pinion
mechanism is complete and working quite well. The glass on the
other hand is mostly nice, it is very clear and only both rear elements show cleaning marks and an edge chip. Overall a
good condition for its age.
History: Derogy s workshop was one of the very early and achieved high respect for his photographic lenses. This specimen comes with the personal engraving:
'Derogy Fabt - Bte, s.g.d.g. - a Paris'
the serial number is very low with: 12.034 which puts it in the very early 1860ies!
The lens has a focal lenght of 180mm at a speed of F3.3. It will cover 4x5 and will even work for nice 5x7 portraits with a very thin DOF and fine petzval characteristic on the ground glass.
Lens comes with a flange.
