Condition: This quite nice Petzval design lens comes in a good and authentic condition. The brass comes with a nice warm glow and minimal wear and its still a beauty to look upon. The rack & pinion is there and works, though a little tough. The glass is mostly in good condition, there are quite some cleaning marks especially in the front and some minor edge seperation, but that doesnt affect image quality, which i tested on the groundglass.

History: Mc Allister in New York was one of the few early US makers who also adopted the petzval formula and amde lenses for laterna magicas as well as photographic cameras. There arent many lenses left o the market by this maker, especially not complete with flange and the brass lenscap.


It has a focal lenght of 220mm at a speed of F4. It will cover 4x5 and even more 5x7 with a distinct petzval characteristic on the ground glass.
