E. Suter Basel "Stella" Doppel Anastigmat 360mm F5

Here you see a very rare and quite intriguing lens made by the swiss company  E. Suter in Basel. This "Stella" line features a slightly altered Doppel Anastigmat layout, which also was used by Goerz and other manufacturers of that time, but here the layout used here is not symmetrical anymore. This makes the lens quite interesting: when stopped slightly down the lens offers a fantastic corrected and sharp image field like a Doppel Anastigmat would do. Wide open on the other hand, the lens shows a 'softened down' look, with sharp outlines but with softer transitions and also some glow, not unlike the soft focus effect the Universal Heliar or the Cooke Portrait lens did offer. This makes this a very unique soft focus portrait lens (not pictorial though).

The focal lenght is 360mm (or 14") at a max. aperture of F5. The lens is best used on 8x10 and up to 11x14 formats.

The condition of the lens is remarkable: The golden laquere shows only minimal wear and also a fine and authentic patina. The glass is in a good condition mostly, only very few and light cleaning marks here and there, that wont affect the image quality at all. There is no haze and no fungus. The aperture is moving freely from F5 up to F32.

The lens comes with the original flange and even the authentic lenscap.

A lens that rarelly shows up at all on the market (especially in the longer FL), and ive been looking for that about a year now.
