E Suter Portrait Petzval 220mm F3.75
€800.00
Sold Out
History: A very interesting Portrait petzval especially for
the 5x7
format. Emil Suter was one of the earliest and most reknowed optical
makers in the early years of photography. He was well known and
respected for his well built Aplanat series, and also for the Rapid
Portrait series which had a portrait petzval layout.
Condition: The
lens is in
very nice and authentic condition. The brass of the lens comes with minor wear and a fantastic golden patina.
The glass is in a really really good condition, i cant hardly spot any cleaning marks here, seems it was treated really well over the years.
This lens
has about 220mm focal lenght (8.5") and an open aperture of
F3.75. It will cover 4x5 but work really best for the 5x7 (and maybe even fullplate) format. The specs and the optical quality really comes close to that of the famous Dallmeyer 2B. The center shows a tack sharp image, while the background smoothly falls off towards the edges: a fantastic portrait lens for those formats.
Lens comes with the fitting flange, a fitting waterhouse stop (selfmade) and a leather lenscap.
