E. Suter "Stella" Portrait 320mm F5 (Soft Focus)

Here you see a very rare and quite intriguing lens made by the swiss company  E. Suter in Basel. This "Stella" line features a tweaked Doppel Anastigmat layout, which also was used by Goerz and other manufacturers of that time, but here the layout is not symmetrical anymore. This makes the lens quite interesting: when stopped slightly down the lens offers a fantastic corrected and sharp image field like a Doppel Anastigmat would do. Wide open on the other hand, the lens shows a 'softened down' look, with sharp outlines but with softer transitions and also some glow, not unlike the soft focus effect the Universal Heliar or the Cooke Portrait lens did offer. This makes this a very unique soft focus portrait lens (not pictorial though).

The focal lenght is 320mm (or 13") at a max. aperture of F5. The lens is best used up to 8x10 and also 10x12 portrait format.

The condition of the lens is absolutely nice and authentic. The deep golden laquere shows only minimal wear here, mostly to on the lenshood. The glass is in a good condition, there are some cleaning marks here and there, and the front shows also some deeper marks, but none of that will affect the image quality at all. There is no haze and no fungus. The aperture is moving freely from F5 up to F32.

A lens that rarelly shows up at all on the market (especially in the longer FL), and ive been looking for that about a year now.

The lens comes with a fitting flange.
