early french Portrait Petzval 240mm F4

€550.00 EUR

Shipping costs will be calculated at checkout.

History: This nice petzval lens comes without an engraving on the outer barell, this is quite common for french makers from that era. Comparing the barrell design and the elment casings, its origigins might be placed in the early Darlot, or Gasc & Charconnet workshop.

The focal lenght is about 240mm (or 9.5") and the open aperture is around F4. It covers 5x7 and fullplate with a destinctive petzval character in the outer region (especially in the larger format).

Condition: This lens comes in a good condition. The brass looks mostly nice and shows only minor wear. The rack & pinion mechanism is complete and still working fine. The glass is in good condition, there are some cleaning marks, besides that there is no haze, fungus or seperation visible.

It comes with a flange and is ready to shoot!
