History: The Aplanat or also Rapid Rectilinear lens layout is one of the most succesfull lens layouts in the early lens history. With its overall corrrected image field and beeing lightweight it offered an alternative to the larger lenses that were dominating the studios up untill then. This specimen was made by one of the most known german lens makers: Emil Busch Rathenow.

The brass is in good shape, there is some  wear but also an authentic golden patina. The glass is in a quite good condition and shows only minor cleaning marks here and there, and minimal edge seperation in the rear, but besides that the glass is clear and without any haze or fungus.  The iris is still working and moves from F8 to F64. The image is overall sharp and corrected on the groundglass. A nice inexpensive lens for ULF landscape work.

The  focal lenght is 500mm and an image circle of about 600mm it will easily cover formats up to 30cm x 40cm (or 11"x14") probably even larger slightly stopped down. The lens is overall corrected (aplanat design) and shows a remarkable sharpness all throughout the image field.

The lens comes with a flange and a selfmade lenscap that fits the lens perfectly.
