History: This early portrait Petzval lens made by Gasc & Charconnet for the US market probably somewhen in the late 1860ies or early 1870ies. It was a common practise back then, especially among the french makers to sell their lenses abroad, especially in the US market.

Condition: The brass looks very nice here, there is only minimal wear and signs of use. The rack & pinion is complete, and still works smoohtly. The lens features a waterhouse slot (no stops included). The glass looks mostly clean and shows no seperation or fungus, there are some cleaning marks as always, but that wont affect the image quality of this beauty.

The lens has a focal lenght of 160mm at a speed of F3.3. It will cover 4x5 formats with distinct petzval characteristic on the ground glass.

Lens comes with a fitting flange and the authentic leather lenscap.
