H. Roussel Stylor 260mm F4.5

History: This is a very rare example of the french lens making legend H. Roussel Paris. The Stylor offers a layout with 6 glass elements in 3 groups. It is to some degree similar to Voigtländers Heliar layout, though its not symmetrical. And indeed on the groundglass the lens offers a nice sharpness with a buttery smooth bokeh, not unlike the Heliar, still even a bit softer towards the edges of the frame. I think this is a very interesting portrait lens with a unique look, that is almost unknown to most shooters, since it is so rare.

There were two Series of the portrait version one with F6.3 as starting aperture, and the other with F4.5. This is the faster F4.5 version which rarely can be found nowadays on the market.

Condition: The housing is in a nice condition, there is almost no wear to the housing and the golden laquere is mostly intact. The glass is in a quite good  condition, there are only minimal cleaning marks  and specs, but there is no haze, no fungus and no chips present. The  stylish aperture runs smooth from F4.5 to F8.

The lens comes complete with a flange.

The lens has a focal lenght of 260mm at a speed of F4.5. It will cover 5x7 and up to 8x10 formats.
