E. Francais Rectilineaire Serie A No. 8 800mm F8 ULF
€1800.00 EUR
History: E. Francaise was one of the leading makers in the early days of the photographic evolution in Paris. He was very well known for the optical and built quality.
This specimen is a fantastic example for this his worksmanship. This Aplanatique lens comes in a fantastic shape and rarelly seen size. The No 8 is the second largest lens Francais offered back then.
Condition:
The brass looks very authentic here, there is some wear but otherwise the golden laquere (which was typical for this maker) is mostly still intact. It is
unpolished and still shows the fatnastic patina of over 100 years of existance. The glass is a great condition also, there are only two tiny edge chips in the rear, which wont affect image quality to the slightest. Otherwise the glass is crispy clear.
With its focal lenght of
about 800mm (or 31.5") and an image circle of about 900mm it will cover formats up
to 50cm x 60cm (or 20"x24") easily. The lens is overall corrected (aplanat
design) and shows a remarable sharpness all throughout the image field.
The lens comes with a fitting flange and even a fitting waterhouse stop!
