Hermagis Portrait Petzval 150mm F3.5

€450.00 EUR

Shipping costs will be calculated at checkout.

History: The Hermagis  petzval lenses were known and well sold in the early days of photography. For decades those lenses were used worldwide in the top portrait studios. The lens is engraved with:

'HERMAGIS  - OPTen FABn - Brevete s.g.d.g. - Paris'

and the Serial number is:

'10.905'

Condition: The condition of this small lens is worthy of any collection or wetplate studio. The brass is unpolished and still shows its authentic golden glow. Overall there is only minor wear to this small beauty. The rack & pinion mechanism is complete and still working nicely. The glass is in good shape too. There are very few cleaning marks and specs, but overall it is very clear and without seperation or haze.

The lens was a dedicated photographic lens and offers a waterhouse slot (no stops included).

The lens  has a focal lenght of 150mm at a speed of F3.5. Its a interesting little lens, the image circle barely makes the 4x5 format on portrait distance, on the other hand it shows the most petzval characteristics i have seen so far on a petzval that size. I think this fellow will make someone really happy, making 4x5 portraits with a hefty petzval punch and minimal vignietting

Lens comes with the original flange.
