History: Hermagis was one of the early optical makers who also adopted the petzval formula and was quite famous for his optical and mechanical quality. When you hold the lens in your hand you can feel that its a top quality photographic lens, not a cheaper laterna magica projecting lens. The interesting part here is that the lens features a convertible layout. It can be used as a normal portrait petzval lens, but it also quite easily be transformed into a landscape lens with about 450mm FL at F9.



In portrait mode the focal lenght is 213mm at a speed of F3.7. It will cover 4x5 and even more 5x7 with a distinct petzval characteristic on the ground glass.



The lens comes with a fitting flange and one waterhouse stop.
