History: The Hermagis petzval lenses were known and well sold in the
early days of photography. For decades those lenses were used worldwide
in the top portrait studios. The lens is engraved with:
'Objectif Portrait No 4 bis - HERMAGIS Paris - No 112.533'
Which puts it into the early 1900ies.
This beauty comes in a good and authentic condition. The brass shows only light signgs of wear and also an authentic patina, most of the original golden laquere is still present. The glass is in good condition, there are minor cleaning marks and tiny specs here and there, but both wont affect the image quality in the slightest.
The best part here is that the lens comes with a iris aperture, which is still fully working. A rare sight with a brass pezval lens.
its fast open aperture of F3.8 and a focal
lengh of 350mm (or 13 3/4"), this lens will work from 8x10 up to 10x12 formats.
Lens comes with a fitting flange.
