Hermagis Portrait Petzval 330mm F4

History: The Hermagis petzval lenses were known and well sold in the
early days of photography. For decades those lenses were used worldwide
in the top portrait studios. The lens is engraved with:
'Objectif Portrait No 5 bis - HERMAGIS Paris - No 31.332'
Which puts it into the early 1880s.
Condition:
This beauty comes in a good and authentic condition. The brass shows only light signgs of wear and also an authentic patina, most of the golden laquere is still present. The glass is in good condition, there are cleaning marks and tiny specs in the front, but both wont affect the image quality in the slightest.
A very well preserved specimen from one of the best optical makers of the wetplate era.
With
its fast open aperture of F4 and a focal
lengh of 330mm (or 13"), this lens will work from 8x10 up to 10x12 formats.
Lens comes with a fitting flange.
