Hugo Meyer Doppel Plasmat 240mm F4 (400mm F8)
€600.00 EUR
History: A very intriguing lens that packs a heavy
punch. The Plasmat was a small revolution back in its days. It offered
not only a very nice and corrected field, but also a quite fast open
aperture (F4). Furthermore the symmetrical layout made it possible to
use each cell of the lens at a slower speed (F8) to cover double the
image area, making it one of the most desireable lens layouts on the
market. The only drawback beeing its hefty manufacturing costs, since it
is a 6 elements in 2 groups layout.
Condition: The
condition of this specimen is very nice. The aperture mooves smoothly forth and back and have
all its leaves. The glass
is in an good condition, some cleaning and minimal dust specs, but this will not
affect the image quality. There is no
fungus, haze or any chips there.
The compound shutter is working so far as i can see. Only the slower times sound to fast to my ear, so no guarantee there.
The lens offers a combined focal
lenght of 240mm and will work best for 5x7 and fullplate formats. Also each
cell on its own (front and back) used alone will offer a focal lenght of 400mm at
F8, useable for up to 8x10 and 11x14 formats.
The lens comes with a fitting flange.
