This
is a very massive and impressive lens made by Krauss Paris. Krauss was the french brand of the more famous Zeiss lens makers from Germany. This specimen features an
impressive focal lenght of about 840mm (or about 33") at a max. aperture of
F10.5. The image circle of this beast is gigantic and over 1 meter in
diameter. It will work very well for Ultra Large Format projects with
formats up to 24x24 and even larger, probably up to 1m x 1m plates.
The most interesting part
here, is that this one comes as a full set, as it was beeing sold back then, about 100 years ago. The lens comes with an iris aperture, flange as well as a full set of filter stops and even the wooden box it was sold in.
The
condition of the lens is really good and worthy of any collection. The most important thing: the glass
is in a mostly good condition, showing only minimal cleaning markss, there is no haze and
no fungus here.
The APO Quatryl is a rather a very rare lens, since it was a competitor with the in house produced Zeiss APO Tessar back then. Thats why it is really a rare sight, which makes it an even more desireable lens today.
The lens comes with a fitting flange, set of filter stops and the authentic wooden box.
