Leitz Leica Hektor 200mm F2.5
€400.00 EUR
As
some might know, the Hektor lenses are not triplets but a better
corrected 4 element design, which offers way better image quality then
triplet design lenses like Elmaron or other cheaper lenses. Those small
little fellows follow a design for the Leica Hektor lenses which were
made for the famous Leica 35mm cameras back in the start. The really
sweet part here is the speed, with F2.5 wide open you get a really nice
and shallow depth of field. You can google the net for example images
made with this kind of lens. A great tool to work with portraiture, and
since they lack an aperture or shutter the Graflex cameras (which offer a
shutter of their own) are really well suited for using them.
Also
historic processes which work with low ISO might be an interesting way
to use the lens. With F2.5 you get quite decent exposure times, which is
always a problem with wet plate or similar.
This specimen comes
with a fixed mount that is attached to a 4"x4" board (102mm x 102mm).
The board will work with most Graflex and other 4x5 cameras, please
check your own lensboard size for comparison.
This is the rather rare 200mm F2.5
version. Its image circle is large enaugh to cover 4x5 fully at
infinity and even 5x7 for portraiture work. Its not easy to work with
such a razor sharp DOF, but if you can manage it, the images you can get
are mind blowing!
Condition: Glass is mostly clear with minimal cleaning marks here and there. It offers a fantastic image on the groundglass!
