When i started out shooting wet plate, speed was the most important thing. I didnt own powerfull lightning yet, so it was all about the Maximum F stop to achieve quick exposures for portraiture work. The best budget choice was a projector lens, and the best projection lens ever made was the Leitz Leica Hektor design. It features a 4 element design (compared to a mere 3 element design of most projection lenses) and offers a large open aperture paired with a unbelievable sharpness in the center (even beeing wide open).

This specimen comes with an metall mounting flange, which also can be used as a Helicoid to change the distance between focal plane and lens to some degree. It is absolute solid and holds the lens perfectly well.

This is the rather rare 250mm F2.8 version of the Hektor family. The image circle is large enaugh to cover 5x7 fully at infinity and even 8x10 for portraiture work. Its almost insane to work with such a razor sharp DOF, but if you can manage it, the images you can get are mind blowing!

Condition: Glass is quite good and shows some cleaning marks, besides that its clear shows a stunning sharp image on the ground glass.

Lens comes with a study and custom made flange.
