Liesegang Janar 400mm F4
€250.00 EUR
History: There are only very few options if you want
to shoot ULF portraits beyond 10x12. You can try to find an authentic
ULF petzval lens, but its going not to be easy and definitly quite expensive. The Liesegang and Leitz projection lenses offer a solution for way lower budget.
The
janar lenses are triplets in design, like the Cooke Portrait lenses
and Anastigmats. Those lenses are sharp in the center, like a portrait
lens should be, and offer a super shallow DOF for ULF formats.
The drawback here is, its not a small lens and it offers no aperture control either. If you can live with that and want to keep your budget small, this is your thing.
Condition:
The overall condition here is good. There are some signs of wear and
age, a big bonus here is the massive flange which makes
it able to mount the lens safely to a camera (or van, or whatever you
need).
The glass is mostly clear, some cleaning marks are present, which wont
affect the image at all.
WIth its 400mm (15 3/4") focal lenght this massive lens will cover up to 30x40 formats, maybe even slightly larger.
