Maugey Portrait Petzval 210mm F3.3

€650.00 EUR

Shipping costs will be calculated at checkout.

History: A very interesting Portrait petzval for the 4x5 and 5x7 format. As with many early french lenses it doesnt feature an engravong on the barrel, but its market on the front glass with 'Maugey aux Paris'. Pierre Maugey was a well known early lens maker in Paris and worked on a very early lens diaphragm in 1858 which he patented.

Imagine, this beauty was made about 160years ago!

Condition: the lens is in very nice and authentic condition. The brass of the lens comes with an authentic and warm patina, showing only minimal wear. The rack & pinion is comple and working. The lens was made before the waterhouse era, so it doesnt feature a waterhouse slot. The glass is in really really good condition, it shows only very light cleaning marks and a couple of specs, but overall it is very clear and doesnt show any signs of seperation, haze or fungus. All in all i tested this baby on the ground glass and the image was very nice with a very sharp center.

This lens has about 210mm focal lenght (8") and an open aperture of F3.3. It will cover 4x5 and 5x7 format with a nice petzval character especially at portrait distance.

Lens comes with a fitting flange.
