O. Simon Tetranar 300mm F4.5
History: Oskar Simon, Werkstätte für Präzisions-Optik, Dresden. Founded 1876 in Potsdam was a workshop that specialized in very precise optics and produced only a handfull of lenses of the decades. This specimen is the largest Tetranar that i ever saw so far on the market.
condition of the lens is really good. The only real drawback here is that its lacking the aperture, so you would shoot this baby wide open (actually since the aperture is missing completly i think the lens should be faster at about F4). The glass
is in a very good condition! showing only very minimal cleaning marks,
no haze and
no fungus here.
With its 300mm focal lenght this lens will work well for 5x7 up to 8x10 formats.
The lens comes with a fitting flange.
