OIP Gand soft focus lens 440mm F4.5
There are not many soft focus / pictorial lenses out there to start to, but this one is a really rare bird, that has a lot of mystery around it. It is almost no documented at all and i couldnt find much info about it even after digging long time on the internet. All i could get was that it is very likely a Heliar layout with 3 groups, that is true. Like the Universal Heliar the soft focus is operated by moving the center element from the back to the front (by turning the ring on the barell from 'NET' to 'FLOU'. The image on the groundglass is quite soft and pictorial, even with the sharp setting.
The condition of the lens is quite good. The outer barrel shows only minimal wear. The glass is ok for the most part, but the front element features somekind of fog, maybe it can be removed, but i wasnt able to. The soft focus mechanism works smoothly, and though the aperture ring isnt perfect (i think one aperture blade is out of alignment), it opens and closes smoothly.
It is a really impressive piece. The focal lenght is 440mm (or 17") and the image circle is BIG here. It did cover my 12x15 format at portrait distance, so it will work for 8x10 up to 11x14 formats.
The lens comes with a fitting flange.
