Peerless Morrison Portrait Petzval 290mm F3

History: A fine example of an early made american Portrait Petzval lens sold by Morrison for Scovilles Peerless line. There is also a chance that this is a rebranded Gasc & Charconnet lens, since Morrison imported those in the beginning parts and complete lenses from them.

Condition: The lens is in very nice condition. The brass of the lens comes with a golden laquere, showing some signs of wear but also a nice patina. The rack & pinion mechanism is missing(!), but that is only an aesthetical point. The glass on the other hand is in a quite good condition, there is a minimal edge speration in the front and some cleaning marks which wont affect the image, besides that it is super clear.

The two most important facts that make this lens really interesting for users are:

1. It offers a built in iris aperture, which still works smoothly. something that is a rare sight with larger petzval lenses.

2. It offers the same dimensions and specs as the famous Dallmeyer 3B lens. The focal lenght and the size of the glass elements is quite identical! I also compared the center sharpness and its hard to tell the difference between those two.

This makes it a very interesting lens for shooters, since it costs only about half as much as the original 3B.

This lens has about 290mm focal lenght (~11.5") and an open aperture of F3. It will barely cover 8x10 with a nice petzval character especially at portrait distance.

Lens comes with a fitting flange.
