History:
There are quite some wide angle lenses around, but almost all of them are quite slow when it comes to starting aperture. As far as my experience goes i can compare it only to the Ross Wide Angle Xpress (250mm F4), that i had a while ago in my hands. A rare encounter  even for me.

But this lens is even more spectacular, when it comes to the amount of glass and optical engeneiring used to produce it. There is not very much info on it even on russian sites. But i could find out that it was produced for an aerial camera which was used in the 30ies and 40ies. Only a handfull of those were ever made and there is only one other known specimen that was on the market for  for the last couple of years.

The most impressing here is not only that the lens has a wide angle design (which offers a very large image circle compared to its focal lenght) but it also offers a F3.5 starting aperture! There are plenty of wide angle lenses out there, but almost none which offer this combination.

The image circle of this baby is large enaugh for 8x10 pictures, and i think it was also designed for this format.

Condition:
The brass looks very good here, there is minimal to no wear. It is coated with a golden laquere which still protects the brass beneath. Lens comes with a working iris aperture, which moves smoothly but since its military it isnt market with F stops. The massive glass elements must have been super expensive to produce back then. They are is a great condition, there are some cleaning marks and a couple of feint scratching marks, but besides that there is no haze or anything else that could affect the image quality.

Tested this baby on the groundglass and its insanly sharp in the center

The lens comes with a fitting flange!
