Ross London (Zeiss Protar) 255mm F7.2
€550.00 EUR
History: Here you see a quite impressive lens made by the famous british maker Ross London. The lens features the famous Double Anastigmat layout, which was later renamed by Zeiss into 'Protar'. Everything is legit here though, since Ross did pay Zeiss for the patent rights to beeing able to use their layout. Ross didnt make to many of those lenses, and only very few remain on the market today, especially in such a great collectors condition!
Condition: As mentioned the condition is very good here. The brass is authentic and shows
a nickel coating which is still in good shape and shows a nice patina. The glass
is in a good condition also, showing only some usuall cleaning marks and specs here and there. The lens comes with a nice iris aperture which is still working as smooth as on the day it was made.
This specimen features
the well known Doppel
Anastigmat layout, which also was marketed by Zeiss under the name
'Protar'. The focal lenght is 250mm (or 10") at a max. aperture of
F7.2. The image circle of this lens is large enaugh to cover 10x12 (or 20cm x 24cm) plates.
The lens is a very well corrected and super sharp lens
design up into the corners, which was highly praised in the early days of photography. Besides that it comes with the original flange and even with the authentic leather lenscap.
