Hermagis Eidoscope 375mm F5 Soft Focus Lens

History:
A beauty with a famous name: the Eidoscope which was first produced by Hermagis and later by Berthiot Som Paris. This lens was made for pictorial photographers around late 19th and early 20th century. The Eidoscope is famous for its soft focus imaging wide open. As the french ads read at that time: "l'Eidoscope ne photographie pas, il dessine!" (It doesnt take images, it draws them!).

Condition: This black beauty comes in a nice condition. Mostly you will find the aluminium version with very bad laquere. This is the earlier brass version, which still shows most of its laquere intact. The aperture is also known to break or missing completly, but here it comes complete and well working. The glass is in a very good condition also.  I cant even hardly spot any cleaning marks here.

With a focal lenght of 375mm it offers a very nice lenght for portraits in 8x10 and 10x12 format. It comes with perfect clear glass, the aperture moves supersmooth and a fitting flange.

It comes with a fitting flange and a nice leather lenscap!
