History: The Taylor Hobson Cooke Portrait lens is one of the rarest and most sought after pieces
of glass out there. This is the early version of the Series II Portrait lenses with the patented Soft Focus adjustment in the front.
Taylor Hobson was
known for its absolute stunning optical work and built quality. This
lens runs as smooth as butter still after even 80 or more years, you can
hear the air flow outside when you move the soft focus adjustment forth
and back.
With its 270mm (or 10 3/4") it will cover fullplate format
easily and work for portrait shootings even up to 8x10 format. For a Taylor Hobson Soft focus lens it is pretty compact and lightweight, making it a very nice addition for portraits in the field.
The F4.5 will give
you a nice shallow DOF for any portraiture work.
A truly amazing and rare lens.
Condition:
The condition of the lens is really superb. The golden laquere
shows only minimal wear (mostly to the lenshood). The lens comes with a working iris aperture
which moves smoothly. The most important part here is
the glass, which comes in a very good and clear condition. There are
very minimal cleaning streaks here and there, as usuall, but besides
that there is no haze, no
fungus or any damage to the lenses.
The lens comes with its the original flange.
