History: The Taylor Hobson Cooke Portrait lens is one of the
rarest and most sought after pieces of glass out there. The lens features a stepless adjustmentfor soft focus, which turns smoothly. Taylor Hobson was known for its stunning optical work and
built quality. This lens runs as smooth as butter still after even 80 or
more years, you can hear the air flow outside when you move the soft
focus adjustment forth and back.
BUT thats not all here. This is one of the very few super fast versions that come with a starting aperture of F3.5! They
offer even a more defined DOF which gives you more room for selective
portraiture work. I think it is safe to say that F3.5 version of this lens, is the most sought after Taylor Hobson Cooke lens that is
out there.
With its 307mm (or 12") the lens will cover 8x10 and even 10x12 formats. The F3.5 will give you a nice shallow DOF for any portraiture work.
A truly amazing and rare lens.
Condition:
The condition of the lens is very good. The golden patina shows only
minimal wear, and the golden laquere is mostly intact. The lens comes
with a working iris aperture
which moves smoothly from F3.5 - F16. The most important part here is
the glass, which comes in a good and clear condition.
The lens comes with its a fitting flange and the original leather lenscap!
