This update features a couple of lenses that you rarelly find on the market today or in the future. This is definetly one of those lenses.

History:
The story of the Collinear is quite interesting. It features a 3x3 element design, meaning there are three cemented elements in the front and three symmetrical elements in the rear. It is a similar layout as the famous Goerz Dagor or also Steinheils Orthostigmat. The advantage of that layout was that the lens was not only corrected for most stigmatisms, but it was also possible to reach both cells on each own, doubling the focal lenght (and aperture).

The serial number is: 69.885 which dates it right back to the year 1900.

Condition: Condition of the lens is worthy any collections or ULF camera. The golden laquere is authentic and shows only minimal wear. The glass is in a good condition, there are some very fine dust specs and cleaning marks here and there. There is no haze and no fungus. The aperture is moving freely and it comes with a flange.

The No 8 of the Series III Collinear was advertised to cover formats up to 50x60 (!) or 20"x24". With its compact size and a weight of only 1100gr it will be a great companion for any ULF landscape and group portrait work.

You definetly will find smaller version of the Collinear lens on the market today, but looking back the last years, this is the only No 8 that i saw appearing on the market for a long long time.
