Voigtländer Portrait Petzval 180mm F3.6
History: Very early made Voigtländer Portrait Petzval lens with a nice and authentic condition. The lens shows a serial number of 16.599, which dates it back to the year 1864.
Condition: The original laquere is mostly present and shows a fantastic patina. The rack & pinion is also still complete and working smoothly. The glass shows quite some cleaning marks and also some specs in the front element, but is otherwise clear and clean.
has about 180mm focal lenght (8") and an open aperture of
F3.6. The lens is not a mere laterna magica lens (as many smaller petzvals from back then), it was made as a portrait lens for small portraits, it features a waterhouse slot for stops (none included).
With its focal lenght it is best suited for 4x5 and 5x7 portraiture work, here it shows a remarkable thing DOF and a characteristic petzval bokeh in the background.
