well made 18x24 field camera (8x10)
Condition: A very well made 18x24 field camera, coming from an european maker probably german or french. This is specimen is not the usuall simplified field cameras you find often in the bay or at flea markets, its a very well handcrafted camera which comes with alot of brass and movement possibilities. The front not only offers rise/fall but also tilt, something that i rarely seen on any european made field camera. The rear offers everything else: tilt and swing. The bellows look original and are still good, quite flexible. The camera offers triple extension which offers around 70cm of bellows draw. The rear was adapted at some point to take the included roll/shutter plateholder. This one was designed for dry plates and film, but with some easy modification will also be able to take wetplates.
All in all the camera is in good condition, everything seems to function, the wood shows some wear for sure, but it still looks good. In my opinion it doesnt need refurbishment, but its a matter of taste.
If youre looking for a inexpensive way to move into the large format world, this might be a good opportunity.
It comes with an already drilled lensboard. If you buy a lens form my collection for this camera i can adapt the lens to it for free and combine shipping costs.
